EquATA is an equine assisted therapy centre in Northamptonshire, set up in 2009 by Joanne Hawkins and Nathaly Stobbe.
Initially they set out to provide people with help with mental health issues until early 2011 when they stumbled across The Horse Boy method. With Joanne's daughter Ellie extremely interested in the story, they set about on the training. Since July 2011, they have had over 60 families come to experience the atmosphere and incredible horses and have had every face leave with a smile!
We are planning on running Horse Boy Camps throughout the school holidays in 2012 and hope that the experiences can spread through even more. We are currently developing a sensory room specifically tailored for the ASD Child, to run alongside and support our camps and day to day services. The horses are truly amazing and without them, we would not get the results that we do. Alongside the horses, Kevin Quick, who joined our team in Feb 2011, is a true asset. He is great with the children, offering them support around the horses and when playing, if you can get him off the trampoline that is!
EquATA is set in a beautiful area in the centre of Grafton Park Wood on an ex WWII American air base and during the sessions, we have access to 100 acres of woodland to experience the sounds of the rustling trees and the beautiful sites of nature around us.
